I was still quite tired when I set out for the meadows early in the morning. Perhaps I’ll find a warm hare-hole to snuggle up in, I thought as an adult brown hare examined me in the middle of the sandy path. I stopped. He stayed seated. We greeted each other. Since he made no move to let me pass, I avoided the field and trudged over the grass hill until I got back on the sandy path. Here I rested, spread out a blanket and enjoyed coffee and bread with relish. As I chewed, I looked to the east, where the sun peeped out from among the trees.
After some time, Master Long-ears suddenly came from the other end of the path. He headed straight for me in a pretty handsome run. I held my breath. About 5 meters in front of me he stopped and looked at me with his friendly eyes. Unfortunately, I didn't have any carrots with me. The pretty animal turned to the blades of grass, which bobbed invitingly to and fro in front of its nose. We enjoyed our spring breakfast together in silence. After a while he ran away as he had come. - Are such encounters also possible if you are not sensitive?
